Legend's baby shower

This is the first time I've ever been invited to a baby shower and was totally at a loss at what it really was. For those of you that are not American, a baby shower is like a Christening party but a month or so before the little tyke actually arrives!

Jewels and Tyler are having a baby boy in about 6 weeks time. She wanted a massive co-ed barbeque so the boys were all as confused as I was!

It was a fun afternoon round at Sharon's house with enough food to feed the 5,000. Sharon provided the chicken and I made a tasty fat free marinade for it. We tried so hard to stick to our diet - only failing when we both saw the chocolate cake.
Those of you that know me, I'm not really into cake, but after a week of grilled chicken and steamed veggies, it looked fantastic.
We looked at the damn cake for ages. Then we found out who made it - Jen from Casa Picasso, famous for her desserts. Ooooooooooooo the dielemma................
So we each had a piece - and trust me, it was totally divine, it didn't taste like chicken or steamed veggies at all! Wonderful. I must say, neither of us had a drop to drink either - we have decided we have nerves of steel.Poor Sharon and Cindy - no fun at giant feast barbeque.........
Lovely orange-chocolate cake made by Jen at Casa Picasso

Molly also loves cake!

OUCH - Don't even look at me, it hurts!

Whose idea was this anyway? It's day 4 of the diet and now we are four people doing it. Balti the IT guy at Banyan Bay has joined us, as, in his own words, he admitted "I love cake" and it's starting to show!
I am exercising and I ache all over - I know this will soon stop and I'll feel great and be full of energy, but right now I feel like a sloth that's been hit by a bus.
I have a beginners DVD for target toning which I actually enjoy doing. I take Molly on a 2 mile walk from home to Fido's Sandbar and back and this morning I read and started a PACE program that my neighbour Doc Fisher gave me months ago. This is what has taken the wind out of my sails today - and I do mean that literally! This program (very very basically) is about short spurts of supra aerobic exercise and then adequate recovery time. So, to start myself off today, I ran up and down my stairs 4 times, then walked to recover, then repeated 10 more times. I was out of puff, panting and nearly sweated my bikini off!
I have been eating well since the start - I'm only 5"2" and cannot lose too much weight - I basically want to shape up and fit into my clothes comfortably. So, my "dieting" is basically healthy eating in a "Slimmers World" style - it makes watching what I eat easy, tasty and I'm never hungry. And thank you to everyone who is supporting us!

The weigh-in

After much giggling Sharon and I hid in the ladies at Banyan Bay and weighed ourselves, and then measured all our wobbly bits.
I have a weighloss goal of 7kg and a dream of fitting into a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear for nearly 2 years.
The war is on, so if you see Sharon in town, make sure you buy her a piece of cake (I'll cover the cost and double it......) LOL
I will let you know next Sunday if anything has changed or not, it usually takes me about 3 weeks before there is any shift in the scale!
I have just weighed and measured Laura, our manager at work who is also joining in the bet. She would like to lose 10kg and Sharon's goal is 15kg. WISH US LUCK! I'm very saddened by the prospect of no wine or lasagne for such a long time, but I am looking forward to wearing my old clothes again! And of course, taking the other girls' money.

Tubby birds

I have no idea who had this bright idea!

Sharon and I have both been eating too many pies and are now rather tubby. We have been wingeing about it for months, but that doesn't appear to have got us any slimmer.

A few weeks back one of us bright sparks decided we should have a 16 week competition and put money on it as motivation. The date we fixed was Sunday 6 July 2008. That's weeks away, until I suddenly realised that it's actually the day after tomorrow. With that in mind I have been stuffing my face with lasagne and drinking loads of red wine.

Any top tips would be gratefully received!!!

Wish us luck and see who sweeps the pot in 16 weeks time.

Yes, I shall be putting some "before" pictures up of me now!

Flowers

These are flowers I took at Banyan Bay, I have no idea what they are!

I now dub you Sir Pipi

I found a puppy late at night, freezing, shivering and in a very big thunderstorm. This is how Molly was found, so I decided to give a cold and scared little ball of fur a safe haven for the night.

I wrapped him in a T-shirt and took him home, neither Molly nor Basil were overly impressed but they put up with him! He's half the size of Basil!

He got fed, put on a comfy blanket and snoozed in safety and warmth. The next morning I fed him again, renamed him Mr Pipi (he must have drank his weight in water and then proceeded to water my living room floor, everywhere!) and put him back where I found him. He looked puzzled when I dropped him off but started sniffing around and recognized his surroundings.

See you soon Mr Pipi!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.....OF LOBSTERFEST!!!!!

What a day and what a night!

I woke up at 5am making mental lists, so I gave up and got up ahead of schedule (thank goodness). Gave Sharon a call and we decided to walk the dogs to get a good start to the day. So after walking the beach way down south we got back at about 7.30am and started with the preperations for the 5pm start to the block party.
I chopped, chopped and chopped some more. A big THANK YOU to my neighbour Zac and my muppet Paul for shelling and deveining all that shrimp and helping chop more veggies.
I have never looked sexier in a bikini and a shower cap.....NOT.
Sharon rushed around all day fetching and carrying for me. And super well done to the Tacos and Travelqueen for decorating the booth and being storage HQ.
I finally finished cooking at 4.20pm, jumped in the shower, then called Carlos the taxi driver to take us all down to central park. We piled in a TV, tables, chairs, all the food, cleaning stuff, drums, Zac, Paul and I - we arrived at the booth at 4.59pm.......
The rest is Lobsterfest 2008 history - enjoy the photographs on our blogs.
You can check out the Taco's on http://www.tacogirlblog.blogspot.com/ and Sharon's on http://www.boydiebelize.blogspot.com/.

So much fun and so elated when we won best booth. Rico's restaurant at Banyan Bay won best dish and 2nd prize for best cocktail - we swept the board.
Shout outs and thank yous to all of you out there that listened to crazy ideas, fed me coffee, brought over stuff from the States, provided equiment and support and just thought that this was generally a great idea. THANK YOU!

Can I go to sleep now? I promise not to try and organise anything else......this week!
